2023 Chevrolet Suburban Release Date, Price, Engine

With emerging popularity of crossovers and mid-size SUVs, many believed that the market would become small for large SUVs. One US car-maker begs to differ, and with spy photos of 2023 Chevrolet Suburban, we can tell the plans are enormous for this segment. Their upcoming vehicle was spotted on public roads for the first time announcing the new model.

The upgrade of Suburban behemoth was expected as General Motors is in the process of transferring its entire full-size lineup to T1XX body-on-frame platform. This process refers only to their SUVs and trucks. This update will see a shift from K2XX design and will be followed by weight loss which is these days achieved through replacement of some steel parts with aluminum ones.

According to motorauthority.com 2023 Suburban could come lighter for about 300 pounds.

The switch of platforms is something that GM is working for some time now. The first models to be revealed running on the new T1XX platform were 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.

Exterior

Now, the testings are in early stages, and heavy camouflage is a sign of this. But from a first look what we can tell is that front end will look like another Chevy model. The grille and the area around headlights, and the lamps of 2023 Chevrolet Suburban will be similar to those of the latest Silverado pickup. The likeness continues with the angle on which C-pillar is positioned, while the taillights are going to have an original look.

Chevy engineers gave their best shot at hiding the rear axle, but despite their effort, it is clear that the rear suspension will be independent. Like you know the ongoing version has the solid rear. This move will kill two flies with one hit. First, 2023 Chevy Suburban will have more comfort. The second one, it is an answer to what Blue Oval did with Ford Expedition.

Interior

At this moment we are not sure what changes are in for the cabin of this SUV. The technology department will be updated by the time new Suburban hits the roads. Current SUV offers interior, and comfort that can be found in some luxury vehicles. The seats are large and cozy, while the dashboard and overall design are sleek as it gets. All of this is spiced with 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

Engine

Like always, Chevy is more than ready to face their rivals so their upgrades will continue in the engine bay. The number of offered units will be bi larger than before. The biggest surprise is the possibility of a 4-cylinder Suburban. Yeah, you heard it right! There is a possibility that Chevy’s 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four would find it’s way under the hood of 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. This mill comes with cylinder deactivation fitted.

Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology is what you will get if the option you select is a 5.3-liter V-8. This tech is what gives Suburban the ability to run on either on one cylinder or all eight. The range-topping option is going to be a 6.2-liter V8 that will boast 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. At the moment this output is only available with Suburban RST.

Price

The current Suburban doesn’t come cheap, but it’s worth the money. We must warn you; the next-gen model will come pricier than what we have today. At the moment the base version has an MSRP of $51,400. The mid-range LT trim goes for $56,500. At the top, you have premier trim which is priced at $66,125. Expect that the new model will top these prices for a couple of hundreds of dollars at low trims, and a couple of thousands at the top.

Many car enthusiasts comment that Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada are way cheaper than this, but they forget the difference in size. Chevy’s pride and joy is way bigger. What’s important is that Suburban is, and will be cheaper than its main rival – Ford Expedition. Blue Oval’s model starts at $52,900.

2023 Chevrolet Suburban Release Date

According to some sources, 2023 Suburban could come as early as late 2018, but we wouldn’t keep our hopes too high. The more likely option is that it will hit the showrooms in early 2019, as 2023 MY. The dealerships should have this vehicle in the offer by the summer months of next year. As most car giants in the world, Chevy is not sleeping, and shortly after you see 2023 Chevy Suburban, you can also expect a reshaped version of their Tahoe.
