2023 Ford Bronco – The Legend Makes A Comeback!

It has been a long, long time, since the year of 1996. To be precise, when the last Bronco had hit the open roads across the States after which it’s production was abruptly stopped. At that time it was surprising and shocking to many of Ford Bronco’s devoted fans and consumers.

It seemed at the time that the 30 years of; almost undisputed dominance among SUV’s was now history for this mythical vehicle which was used as a reference in many movies and which grew to become a part of US pop culture over time.

It really wouldn’t be the first nor last great automobile that drove into the sunset and left a lot of its fans longing to get a chance to get behind his wheel again. However, it would appear that history is getting re-written in Detroit as far as Ford Bronco is concerned.

At the 2017 North American International Auto Show, held on January 9 of last year, it was announced that Ford Bronco would be making its comeback in 2023. And this statement sent shock waves throughout the car industry. Especially among the most logical competitors, such as Jeep Wrangler.

Judging by the hype and the effort that has been and is at this very moment put into the mystery and interest around the 2023 Ford Bronco it would appear that the once undisputed champion off off-road SUV’s has a message for its competitors and that message would be “I’m back!.”

2023 Ford Bronco Design

Nothing is stated with full certainty about the design of 2023 Ford Bronco just yet. However, judging by some sources close to the manufacturer and also recently released photos of a beige sheet draped over the highly anticipated Bronco it will mostly resemble 1966 Ford Bronco, and it’s 2004 concept. That would mean a lot of right angles, boxy shaped car.

But again, none of this is officially confirmed just yet. Which seems to be a general intention of Ford Bronco’s manufacturer; a lot of speculations, hyped up presentation to enlarge the suspense which is to reach it’s long-awaited “Kumbaya moment” at the Detroit Auto Show, next January.

What we do know, however, is that there will be likely two types of 2023 Ford Bronco. One two-door version and another four-door variant. Four-door variant is inevitable due to financial reasons. It will also have an “Air Roof,” which is very important given that it helps the comfort in driving especially on the open road while the weather is beautiful. This feature is a plus for the Bronco, for sure.

Other then that 2023 Ford Bronco has familiar boxy shape, long square hood, a windshield built under almost 90 degrees and rectangular greenhouse. At the back, it will have mounted spare tire and bulging fenders on all wheels; what is highly expected is that Ford Bronco will follow Jeep Wrangler in terms of adding more and more aluminum in its construction, to keep it light as possible.

As far as the interior goes, by all reports, it will mostly resemble interior similar to Ford Ranger which means center-mounted shifter with rotary dial for 4WD as well as huge screens for driver’s information display’s. It is highly expected to have five seats for passengers. Usual traits, such as keyless access and push-button starting are sure standard at this point.

It hasn’t been confirmed by anybody directly working on the car, but numerous relevant sources also claim that 2023 Ford Bronco will also have front and rear axles, which is of course added with the purpose of delivering exceptional off-road performance.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that the main competitor of Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, also has the same features. Ford Bronco, the legend among SUV’s seems to be on a quest of claiming its throne among 4×4 off-road SUV’s; that he held for three straight decades since 66′ till 96′.

2023 Ford Bronco will be manufactured at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne; Michigan- the same plant where all other Broncos were previously made. However, most of the engineering and development will take place at Ford’s Asia-Pacific Engineering Center in Victoria, Australia.

Engine

There are a lot of speculations regarding what’s going to find its place under the hood of the revived legend. Given the competition and the goals of the current management, we expect new Ford Bronco to have 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 volume engine courtesy of its 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. If this doesn’t come to reality, only another logical option is 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6.

In that case, 2023 Ford Bronco would carry the force of an impressive 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Either way, 2023 Ford Bronco would take over as reigning in his class topping over Jeep Wrangler’s 285 horsepower 3.6 liter V-8.

To back up all that power under the hood, regardless which of the two engines ends up there; Ford Bronco will have 10-speed automatic transmission. They might add a six-speed manual as well, but that is not certain.

2023 Ford Bronco Pricing

Again, nothing is officially confirmed yet but judging by the price of its main competitors such as Jeep Wrangler and others it should start somewhere around $30,000, give or take.

Trivia

It has been confirmed that Ford 2004 Bronco will make its appearance in this year’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s movie Rampage.” Considering that Johnson is contractually connected to Ford and that the movie is being released in the midst of the 2023 Ford Bronco marketing campaign; we can tell how much effort and hope has been put into this comeback of car-industry legend.

Will it be justified? We’ll just have to wait and see…
